Disclaimer

Please read this before using anything you buy from Lumora.

Our products are not medical devices

Everything Lumora sells is a general-wellness consumer product. Our products are not medical devices. They are not FDA-cleared or FDA-approved. No statement on this website, in our marketing, or in our product materials has been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.

Nothing we sell is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition — including androgenetic alopecia, pattern hair loss, or any other form of hair loss.

Nothing here is medical advice

Content on this site, including descriptions of how red light therapy works and any timelines we describe, is provided for general information only. It is not medical advice, it is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified professional, and it should not be used to diagnose a condition or decide against seeking treatment.

If your hair loss came on suddenly, is patchy, is accompanied by scalp pain, scaling or other symptoms, or is causing you distress, please see a doctor or dermatologist. Those presentations can indicate conditions that a light therapy device does not address.

Results vary, and some people see none

Low-level light therapy has been studied for years in dermatology with mixed results. Some people report a benefit; others report none. Hair loss has many causes — genetic, hormonal, nutritional, autoimmune, stress-related and medication-related among them — and light therapy does not address most of them.

Any timeline described on our site reflects experiences commonly reported with low-level light therapy in general. It is not a prediction of your outcome and not a guarantee of any result.

Talk to a doctor first if any of this applies to you

  • You are pregnant or nursing
  • You have a photosensitivity disorder such as lupus or porphyria
  • You take photosensitizing medication — certain antibiotics, retinoids, diuretics, and some others
  • You have an active scalp or skin condition, or an open wound on your scalp
  • You have a history of skin cancer
  • You are being treated for any condition affecting your scalp, skin or hair

Stop using the product and speak to a doctor if you experience irritation, discomfort, or any reaction you didn't expect.

No professional relationship

Buying from Lumora or corresponding with us does not create a doctor-patient or any other professional relationship. When we answer questions by email, we're describing our product — we are not advising you on your health, and we'll tell you to see a professional when that's the right answer.
